MIDLAND COUNTIES

The Birmingham and Midland Counties' Association held a social evening recently and a lantern lecture, with a series of 60 slides lent by the Midland Red Bus Services of Birmingham was given by Mr. Drayton Venables. The laternist was Mr. J. A. Bland. Scenes of the eighties in Birmingham were shown, and other subjects were Henley-in-Arden, whose church dates back to 1368, and Stratford, including Shakespeare's Memorial Theatre. Then followed scenes of Coventry, Kenilworth, Warwick Castle, Leamington, Tewksbury, Worcester, and the Cotswolds. Several songs were sung at suitable points in the lecture,. including "Song of the Malvern Hills," "Old-fashioned Town,'; and "Your England and Mine." The evening concluded with supper.
