SHIP AWAHOU LEAKING

The Richardson Line motor-ship Awahou (under charter to the Anchor Co.) was found to be leaking while loading at Onehunga for Nelson on Thursday. A fair amount of water entered the engine-room. It is thought that the vessel started a plate or rivet in one of the smaller bays around Nelson. A survey will be necessary to discover the extent of the damage, and as there is no slip at Onehunga the Awahou will have to go to either Auckland or Wellington, more probably Wellington.
