LONG FOOTPATH
GROWING SOOTS A iPROBiIiEIVI
Mainly for'the convenience of members of the Air Force stationed" at Weraroa, the Main Highways Board is putting down a footpath, from • the Levin Borough boundary to Kijuberley Road, the nearest point to the Training School. The cost is in the vicinity of £1250, towards which the Horowhenua County is paying roughly' 10 per cent. A point raised in connection with this lengthy footpath and its cost is the presence of fines of trees, mainly macrocarpa, whose roots as they grow will ultimately do great damage to the path. Some of s the cduneillors feel thkf there 'should; be , statutory power to compel owners, to remove trees likely to damage the footpath.
