A point raised in connection with this lengthy footpath and its cost is the presence of fines of trees, mainly macrocarpa, whose roots as they grow will ultimately do great damage to the path. Some of s the cduneillors feel thkf there 'should; be , statutory power to compel owners, to remove trees likely to damage the footpath.
