WENT TOO FAR
SOVIET TRADE BUREAU
OPERATIONS IN FRANCE
REVELATIONS BY POLICE RAID
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.)
PARIS, February 8.
Documents seized in the police raid on the Soviet Trade Bureau in Paris reveal that the bureau's operations have gone far beyond the scope of a trade mission's functions, and also close collaboration between German and Russian propagandists.
Plainclothes men entered the offices at 9 a.m. and forced the safes and files. They met officials who were arriving and escorted them to their homes, which were also searched.
The Government later refused a demand by the Soviet Ambassador, M. Souritz, for the return of the documents and declared that the office had ceased to enjoy immunity when the Franco-Soviet trade agreement lapsed. The raid is part of operations against Communists throughout France.
