WEIR—READER.

. The wedding was. solemnised at the Basilica, Hill Street, on Tuesday, of Bertrand Mary, younger daughter of Mrl arid Mrs.D. L. Reader, Wellington, and ..James,, youngest son .of Mr. and Mrs.. W. Weir, of Blackball. The ceremony and Nuptial Mass were performed by the Rev. Father Herlihy, cousin of the bride. During Nuptial Mass hymns were sung by Master P. Carmody, Miss Milligan officiating at the organ. •

The bride, who was escorted by .her father, wore a gown of ivory embossed satin cut on classical lines. The long sleeves and train were outlined with pearls matching the coronet of pearls which held in place her billowing tulle veil. She carried a trail of Christmas lilies and maidenhair fern.

The bridesmaids, Miss Valmai Reader, sister of the bride, and Miss Mary Weir, sister of the bridegroom, wore frocks of sky blue slipper satin with blue silk lace mittens, and carried bouquets of cyclamen and lavender carnations which matched the posies on their unusual hats.

Mr. R. Kean, Christchurch, and Mr.

J. Rose, Wellington, were best man and groomsman respectively.

' The reception was held at the Grand Hotel, where a large number of guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore a smart black ensemble, a black pjll-box hat, and a shoulder spray of deep pink carnations. She was assisted by Mrs. W. Weir (mother of the oridegroom), who wore a navy ensemble with a smart navy straw hat and shou] ler spray of pale pink roses. When Mi and Mrs. J. Weir left by plane for the south, the bride was wearing a frock and coat of powder blue, a blue hat trimmed with navy, and accessories to tone.
