HIGH-HANDED ACTION
NAZIS IN THE BALTIC
SEIZURE OF CARGOES
(British Official Wireless.)
(Received February 8, 11.15 a.m.)
RUGBY, February 7.
The high-handed action which Germany takes against neutral shipping in the Baltic is well illustrated by the attitude towards the detained Estonian and Latvian vessels.
It is reported that Estonia intends to send a delegation to Berlin to discuss the detention in German ports of 19 of her vessels, and according to reliable information, the owners of Latvian vessels seizea while trading with neutral countries have been compelled to sell their cargoes to Germany, which has thus been able to secure certain badly-needed war materials.
