SCOUTING DECORATION

Advice has been received by the Dominion Headquarters, of the Boy Scouts' Association that his-Excellency the Governor-General and Dominion. Chief Scout has approved of the award of the Honorary Medal of Merit to Philip Thurston Smither, District Commissioner of the Wellington North District and Honorary Metropolitan Secretary for the Wellington Metropolitan area. Mr. Smither has been associated with scouting in Wellington for the past fourteen years, his first appointment being as Scoutmaster of the Terrace Troop in 1926, from which position he was appointed Group Scoutmaster of the same Group; In 1934 he became the.
