The attempt to negotiate the hoop failed, and Mrs. Francis made the last two points to wins the Stars for Island Bay by the small margin of two points. ASSOCIATION FERNS. The Woburn Club, represented by Mesdames Collins and Coatman, 3S still in possession of the "ferns," having defeated the Ngaio representatives, Mesdames Hills and Thompson, this week. The mallets competition, which is an annual event and usually attracts a large number of entries, will this season be held at Nelson, and commences on Wednesday, February 28. The local players are arranging that visitors will thoroughly enjoy the trip to Nelson and as the lawns are all laid out in one area competitors will find that games can be arranged expeditiously. There are usually 19 or more games. Entries should be sent to Mrs. Caldow, whose address is given on page 122 of the Annual, and inquiries for board to Mrs. Frost. | Cambria Street, Nelson.
