BAIL REFUSED
, TWO MEN REMANDED
Arrested last night by Detectives N. J. McPhee, R. Tripney,.H. + Alty, C. Urquhart, Sergeant Bonnmgton, and a party of constables, two men, Samuel Jamieson McKee, a labourer, .aged 29, and Roy George Cudby, a labourer, aged 37, appeared before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today charged with breaking entering the shop of C. Smith, Ltd., Cuba Street, with intent to commit theft. A remand to next Friday was granted. One of the accused applied for bail. Detective-Sergeant W. McLennan said that the police strenuously opposed, bail. The men -were arrested last night, he said, on the premises of C. Smith, Ltd., where a safe-breaking attempt had been made.
Bail was refused.
