TIMWORTHY MUCH IMPROVED

Always speedy with plenty of stamina, he has only acquired ness in recent months; He has still to be handled carefully m his races, but his recent efforts have shown .a great improvement in . both nis carrier manners and evenness °L:igan, . Chatmos, a winner at, Ashburton, recently, is" one of the most impressive pacers produced for some time,, and he appears destined to race in the, best classes later in the season, ay Wrack from Lady Superior, the dam of Cardinal Logan and Quality, Chatmos was foaled in 1930, but he was not asked to race until last season,; when he had two wins and a dead heat for first in three starts. His latest outing was his first for this season, and the manner in which .he conceded a large field starts ranging, up to 36 yards suggested that it..will j be some time before he reaches his limit He is a big, plain gelding, but he possesses speed and- stamina, above the average and the racing tempera- j merit to go along way in. the handicaps. ■ A three-year-old trotter with 'bright prospects is Noble Lass, a filly; by Nobleman from Wharepiana. She has a fine style of moving and is capable of producing a good turn of speed, but her lack, of experience has . counted against her in her few races to date. She promises to develop into a quality-looking mare, arid it should not be long before she leaves the, maiden ranks. ' Single Star, the . winner of the maiden pacers' event on the Ashburton Trotting Club's programme at Christmas, will, be seen to further advantage later in the season. This was her first start and she lost considerable ground away from the barrier,, but she ran up to her field without effort and scored with plenty in hand. Owned and trained by B. Grice, she comes from a stable which shelters a number of most promising pacers, and she'can be expected to develop good fdrm.
