ASHHURST MEETING
GOOD FIELDS FOR MONDAY
One of the most popular fixtures in the Wellington provincial circuit is the Ashhurst-Pohangina Racing Club's AnInual Meeting on the Ashhurst course on Anniversary Day, and there is every promise of this year's gathering, which will be held on Monday, being again highly successful. The course has been well cared for during the. summer weather of the past month and excellent going is assured. The fields are good in all events, with numerous horses due to be on hand instead of remaining for the final day at Trentham. The form is well disclosed for most of the events. The betting will be under the singlepool system. / . EVEN CUP ISSUE. The feature event of the d.ay is the Ashhurst Cup, a race in wnich apprentice allowances may be claimed. The likely favourite is Notium. who recently won the Stratford. Cup, but others who will be well supported if on hand are Lady Montana. Galteemore, Ned Cuttle. Classform, and • Corroboree, with Lady Chat one who might upset the form off the mininium. In the Pohangina Handicap horses who will be in favour include Ahmga. Ecstatic, Screen Star, Endorsement, and Lexden, the course being one that will suit Ecstatic, who will have the j benefit of an apprentice allowance, I Another. open event is the Raumai Handicap, for which form in earlier races often holds an important bearing. The only fresh horses in this field are Trebor, Royal Star 11, Le Toquet, and Little Dorrit. ■ • -
