Special forecast for Wellington:— / Light and variable winds.
Weather cloudy and at times misty, with mild temperatures.
The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today for the ensuing twenty-four hours, is for winds between east and north prevailing. Winds will be generally light to moderate in force, but will be freshening at times along the east coast and in the fslr north.. There will be scattered rain from Tarariaki northwards, with mist or drizzle on parts of, the east coast of the South Island, but the weather otherwise will be fair to icloudy with mild temperatures. There has been little change in the general meteorological situation. A weak disturbance is still centred in the far north, and pressure over the Dominion as a whol,e has fallen slight ly. In the far north moderate to.fresh easterly winds have been blowing, and elsewhere, although rather variable in direction, winds have been tending i easterly, too. Occasional rain has again fallen in the far north, Mangonui reporting 210 points, Russell 175, and Kaipara 17, but elsewhere the weather has been fair to fine. There was cloudy weather this morning over the northern part of the North Island with scattered intermittent light rain, and there was a considerable amount of low cloud in the eastern districts of the South Island, but the. weather otherwise is fair and temperatures are continuing mild' to warm. * Auckland- has had a moderate to fresh easterly to north-easterly wind, and yesterday's weather was overcast with occasional light rain which totalled 10 Temperatures were mild, with a comparatively small range between 71.3 and 61.1 degrees. There was little change this morning. Wellington had a bright day with but little cloud, 11 hours of bright sunshine being recorded. While the wind remained a light north-westerly temperatures were very warm, a maximum of 75 degrees being reached, but during the afternoon the wind changed to a south-easterly and the minimum temperature fell to, 58.3 degrees. This morning's weather started by being dull, but subsequently the cloud broke somewhat and there were, some bright intervals. Apart from some scattered low cloud, Christchurch had clear and sunny weather yesterday, with a moderate south-westerly breeze. Tempertures were mild, 68.9 degrees being the maximum and 57.6 degrees the minimum. Early this morning the sky became overcast and the weather hazy, the wind being a light breeze from the Dunedin had a dull day yesterday, with moderate temperatures and a light southerly breeze. The wind this morning was from the north and the sky was only partly cloudy. WEEKEND PROSPECTS. , Wellington during the weekend can expect winds to be tending northerly in direction. and to be freshening somewhat. There may be some mist or drizzle at first, but the weather otherwise is likely to be cloudy and mild.
