WEATHER FORECAST
Forecast for Wellington: Fresh southerly winds, decreasing tomorrow. Weather fair to fine and mild. The Dominion forecast issued at noon today for the Dominion as a whole is for northerly winds at first over part of the Auckland Peninsula, but otherwise moderate to strong winds between south-east and south-west from Marlborough northwards; light to fresh northerlies or north-easterlies predominating in the south. Cloudy to overcast and unsettled weather may be expected from Taranaki and Hawke's Bay northwards, with occasional rain, but improving later from the west. Fair to fine weather is likely over the re* mainder of the country. Temperatures will be moderate to mild. Pressure has risen over the South Island with the passage of a shallow depression, but another disturbance is located today just west of the Auckland Peninsula. Moderate westerly winds prevailed st first, but a southerly change advanced slowly northwards over most of the country. Except for some light showers and drizzle associated with the southerly change, the weather was fair to fine, with mild or warm temperatures. Rain commenced to fall in the north last night, however. Falls have been mainly light, Kaipara and Cape Egmout have had 21 points of rain, and Cape Maria van Diemen 15 points. Conditions today over the Auckland Province are unsettled with scattered ram, but elsewhere the weather is fair to fine Winds are light and variable in the south, but fresh -northerlies are blowing in the north and south-easter-lies elsewhere. Auckland had a fine warm day yesterday, hut the weather clouded ov.t during the afternoon. The wind whs a moderate west-north-westerly, but it turned to north-easterly about 3 p.m. The maximum and minimum temperatures were 76.3deg. and 59.4deg., and 11 points of rain were recorded. Today the weather was overcast with intermittent rain, the wind being a fresh' .north-easterly. In Wellington yesterday the weather was fair to cloudy. The wind was s light northerly in the morning, but changed to a fresh southerly to the afternoon. The sky became overcast m the evening and there was some light drizzle, which amounted to 3 points of rain Temperatures were mud, the maximum being 68.4deg. and the minimum 52deg. The sunshine recorded was 3.8 hours. Today the weather is fine and sunny, with a moderate southerly wind. . , A fresh to strong southerly wind blew all day in Christchurch. The weather was overcast with high cloud in the morning, and Intermittent rain fell between midday and 4 o clock in the afternoon. The weather cleared and the wind decreased during the evening. there was a slighi frost of Idee last night. Today the weather was fine and bright, with a moderate easterly wind. The weather was overcast yesterday morning in Dunedin. but it cleared and was bright and sunny in the afternoon A light south-westerly breeze prevailed. Today the weather is fine' with bright sunshine and a fresh light northerly wind.
