ST. JAMES THEATRE
Deanna Durbin's Latest,
Sets for Universal's new Deanna Durbin production. "First Love," which opens next week at the St. James Theatre, completely filled three of the largest stages at the studios. The stages are the new No. 22, the Phantom stage, and Stage 12, the largest sound stage in Hollywood. On No. 22 was the set representing the home in which much of the action of the story takes place. On the Phantom was a huge stairway and reception hall, and on Stage 12 was a mammoth ballroom in which the climax of the picture was filmed. Almost every available "dress extra in Hollywood was employed in the ballroom scenes, in which Deanna Durbin. Helen Parrish. Leatrice Joy, Robert Staclc. Lewis Howard, and other members of the cast appeared before Joe Valentine's camera under the direction of Henry Koster.
