CAMP ENTERTAINERS
TWO FUNCTIONS THIS WEEK
ENTHUSIASTIC AUDIENCE AT TRENTHAM
That the executive of the Official Camp Entertainers are maintaining their high standard of entertainment for the troops at Trentham, was further demonstrated on Wednesday evening when Mr. Ernest Le Grove and company "journeyed out to the camp and staged their comedy-thriller, "I Killed the Count," to a packed and intensely interested audience. Those in the company all received generous applause, and the show went without a hitch from- start to finish.
Members .of the cast were Joan Flack, Dorothy Barr, Lesley Jackson, Cedric Gardiner, Myles Wright, James Crawford, Colin Davidson, Wintpn Coysh, Fenwick Hall, L. de Berry, Jasper Baldwin, Ernest Le Grove, John Watson. The properties were in the capable hands of Stella Le Grove, and Ralph Hogg, and the setting up of the furniture and lights, etc., was done by Mr. J. Johnson. After the performance, the producer, Mr. Ernest Le Grove, introduced each member to the audience, each member being clapped and cheered.
Major Allen, on behalf of the 0.C., officers, and men, thanked the organiser, secretary, and executive for making such high-class entertainment available to the men, and especially thanked Mr. Le Grove and company for their very excellent and finished performance. The National Anthem was sung, the guests and men being entertained at supper by Major Maxwell and officers.
Mr. Le Grove is highly appreciative of the valuable assistance given him by the men in the camp, especially Major Stewart, who supervised the arrangements, and the executive wish to thank Mr. Batt (A.A.), Mr. Sutherland (A.A.), and Mrs. Toop and Miss Peckston for providing cars for transport. A SOCIAL AND DANCE. A most successful social and dance j was arranged on Thursday evening by the executive of the Official Camp Entertainers for the men of the Mt. Victoria Anti-aircraft Battery. There were novelty dances and competitions and musical numbers were given by the members of the battery, these, as always, proving very popular. An elocutionary item by Miss Esme Crowwas enthusiastically encored, and she responded with "Foolish Questions." Some of those present were Misses Burn, Ryan, Watson, Puttick. Joyce Phelan, Sparkes, B. Hope Gibbons, Cranston, Mason, Pratt, Skerman, Hayes Dennistoun-Wood, Davidson, Whitfield, Fuller (2), Taylor, Brooking, Cox, Lawson, Coltman, McMillan, Manttan, Rhodes', Lankshear, Steele, O'Sullivan, Sanderson, Williams, Purkie Winchcombe: ?iKindred, Green, Bishop, Moodie, Organ, Fitt, Brian, Elleray. The executive wish to thank Mr. Batt (A.A.) and Mr. Sutherland, Mrs. M. I. Bunny, Miss Bulkeley, Mrs. Hussey, and Messrs. L. Blundell/ Barron, Griffiths, Chapman, Latta, Willoughby, Morgan, and Palliser.
