ROCK GARDENING LECTURE
On Friday next at 3 p.m. in the Women's Assembly Hall, Centennial Exhibition, a talk of great interest to flower lovers will be delivered by Mrs. A. R. Gower. "Rock Gardening" is the subject, and the speaker will be supported by a display of rare and choice flowers by members of the Exhibition Horticultural Committee. Those who desire to further their knowledge of rock garden flowers should attend this lecture.
Mrs. Gower will exhibit a collection of rock campanulas and the fragrant dianthus, a pan of charmaecereus sylvistrii in bloom, iris forrestii and iris delavayii, and pans of attractive succulents. Japanese iris will be shown by Mrs. Knox Gilmer, delphiniums and flowers of the liriodendron tulipfera by Miss M. Cooper, roses and anchusas by Miss E. A. Beagley, Brodiaeas and rock garden flowers by Mrs. R. Arlow, —Bomareas and early summer flowers by Mrs. A. J. dv Pont, and Fulvala iris and ixias by Mrs. J. W. Matthews.
The restful atmosphere of the Women's Assembly Hall, together with the pleasure derived "from interesting and instructive talks, provide a welcome relaxation to women visiting the Exhibition.
A basin of cold water placed in a room quickly removes any unpleasant odour of stale smoke.
