MINISTER'S ANNOUNCEMENT
Particulars of the leave that is to be granted members of the first echelon of the Special Military Force were announced last night by the Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones).
The Minister said that it had been decided to grant all members of the first echelon 14 days' leave to cover the Christmas holidays, after which no' further leave on furlough would be granted. Arrangements were being made for the men to be granted leave between the following dates: — Departure: December 14, 15, and 16. Return: December 28, 29, and 30. "Each member of the first echelon, said the Minister, "will be granted a free return railway warrant to his home town or place of enlistment, and if required he will also be supplied with the necessary inter-island steamer warrant."
