COMPARATIVE RETURNS

Detailed prices for the first wool appraisement in Auckland following Government purchase of the clip under the arrangement made with the United Kingdom Government were announced by the Auckland Woolbrokers' Association. The association states that the values realised were much as had been expected on the basfs of 12Jd a 1b average. In the following table the list of appraisement prices as issued by the association is presented in the first column, and in the second column is given the range of' prices at the November auction in Auckland in 1938:— Appraisement, Auction, 1939. The range at the Auckland sale in November last year was stated as follows:— Bellies and Pieces.—Crossbred: Good to super, 7£d to 8fd; low to medium, 6&d to 7£d. Halfbred: 9£d to lOd. The task of appraising the Auckland wool clip was completed last Tuesday. During the 11 days on which 19 apSJ^ISF 1? were engaged they dealt with 23,500 bales.
