TO VISIT DOMINION
DISCUSSION OF PLANS
The Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) announced today that at the invitation of the Government, backed by the recommendation of the Chief of the Imperial General Staff, MajorGeneral B. C. Freyberg, V.C., C.8., C.M.G., D.5.0., who is to command the New Zealand Military Forces overseas, will shortly pay a visit to the Dominion. "At the time of his appointment to the New Zealand Command," said Mr. Jones, "General Freyberg was General Officer Commanding the Salisbury Plain Area. He has already since the outbreak of war spent some time in France; now he is coming to discuss questions of organisation with Majorj Qeneral, Duigan, .Chief, of-the; General Staff here, and the Government, to meet the officers and men whom he will lead; and. generally to familiarise himself with the military situation in New Zealand." .. . ,:y.'/■' . . . |t is:expected that General Freyberg will'be.several .weeks in New Zealand; he left London yesterday. :
