CROSSING SMASH

The West Street railway crossing was the scene of another collision between a motor-car and train this eyening and it is remarkable that the driver, of the motor vehicle, an empty horse float, escaped with his life. However, he lies in the Palrnefston Nqrth Hospital with fairly seribus chest injuries.' Hel js Robert Brown, of Palmerston North. He was driving south ,as the express from Wellington to Auckland was drawing into 'the^ railway yards. The horse float was struck by the big X engine with great force.
