INDUSTRY

The presentation was made by Mr. J. Fisher (Southern Ward), who described himself as the patriarch of the conferences. Mr. Brash had been a model executive officer and a great consolidating influence in ensuring that the members of the board acted as a, team, and in the-best interests of the. industry. ''I desire to ,convey to you our very sincere thanks for the able way in which you have, carried out the onerous duties of secretary of. the board, and our deep .personal affection for. you as a man," said Mr. Fisher, in making the presentation.

Messrs. D. G. Begley (Central Ward) and J. H. Sunderland , (Northern Ward) spoke on behalf- of the producers and the factory managers and secretaries respectively, expressing appreciation of Mr. Brash's services to the industry. Mr. C. H. Thanking the delegates for the presentation, Mr. Brash, who was. accorded musical honours, said that he had not needed anything to remind him of their kindness, because he had received many tokens of that in the past, not the leasti being the way in which they had enabled him to retire on superannuation. He had spent fifty years- in the industry and hoped to keep in touch with it in, the future through his association with the Dairy Industry Council and the Dairy Researdh Institute, v '

Mr. Brash paid ,a tribute to the staff that had worked with him and said that the success of the Dairy Board in its work had been largely, due to the loyalty of his. staff.' He was glad Mr. Courtney had been appointed to succeed him, because he was worthy of the position and of that loyalty.
