PURCHASES BY BRITAIN.
Mr. A. Morton dealt with the negotiations between the New Zealand Government and the Imperial Government. The industry had not been consulted about those negotiations, he said, and consequently the council did not know much about them. When the Empire was last at war the industry had carried out its own negotiations with the United. Kingdom, but on this occasion the Government had been the purchaser in New Zealand and had arranged for sales to Britain.
