TYRE PRICES ADVANCED

An increase of 7& per cent, in the price of tyres and tubes has been allowed in Australia by the Commonwealth Prices Commissioner. The Minister of Customs said that many dealers throughout the Commonwealth were holding stocks of tyres and tubes purchased at pre-war prices, and these should be passed on to consumers at retail- prices'current on August 31.' "Any attempt by dealers to apply the increased retail prices to such stocks would be an infringement of the prices regulations, and would be dealt with accordingly," the Minister stated.
