TE KAWITI INJURED

WIN FOR ORELIO OVERDUE

(Special to the "Evening s Post.")

TAKANINI, November 17,

Orelio is working brilliantly, and is unquestionably the best three-year-old in the Auckland Province, and yet he is still a hack. The big imposts he has been allotted in this class have been prohibitive, and his connections are concentrating on having him ready for the Takapuna Plaj£ on Saturday week, where special weights prevail.

F. Smith received a recent addition to his team in the shape of the Bronze Eagle gelding Venture, who was taken over after the Avondale Meeting.

It is not intended to persevere with either Romani and Solitary, who have been on the inactive list since racing at Whangarei, and they are to be relegated to the paddock at an early date.

Flood Tide is to have his next race at the Auckland Meeting, and on this occasion will be in strong demand, especially after his fine effort at Ellerslie, when he ran third in the Flying Handicap, 7 furlongs, to Silver Quex and Francis Drake. One of the most respected of northern handicappers when at his best, Flood Tide is probably as well now as he can reas#nably be expected to be, and he should give a good account of himself. ; Te Kawiti is an absentee from active work through an injury to a joint, which is believed to have been inflicted while running in the paddock. He may have to be treated to a good spell, i

Lovaals has been kept going since the last Auckland Meeting, and the Avondale Stakes winner is looking bright and well. Early in the spring, she showed superiority over the Auckland juveniles, but this was probably on account qf her forward conditiojn, and she was into fourth place, in the Welcome Stakes, ■ She. may' be capable -of winning handicap;, eyenteji but there are other loyal ypungstets who have made much more prpgre'ss in the interim. . •■;•:' / ■ ■;-
