HEAVY RAIN FALLS

WESTERN FRONT

MINIMUM OF ACTIVITY

(Received November 18, 1.45 p.m.)

LONDON, November 17.

The Paris correspondent of "The Times" states that heavy rain reduced military activity on the Western Front to a minimum, though German patrols were slightly more active. The French artillery dispersed small German detachments east of the Moselle and sent German troops constructing strongpoints between the Saar and the Blies Rivers scuttling to shelter.

A night communique states that there was local activity by contact units and artillery.
