MORE PRODUCTION
DOMINION'S PART IN THE *
WAR
The following reply has been received by the president of the New Zealand Farmers' Union (Mr. W. W. Mulholland) from the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M..J. Savage) to M#. Mulholland's letter regarding the need for increasing production during tl}e war:—
"I have to thank you for youri letter of November 3 referring to a deputation from a, number of organisations, including the New Zealand Farmers' Union, which recently waited upon the Minister of Finance and other Ministers with the object of discussing proposals for increasing primary production.
"You may rest assured," the letter continues, "that the Government is fully alive to the necessity of increasing production, and as a matter of fact is already engaged in having a complete survey made of the possibilities in this direction. Personally I have every confidence in the farmers of the Dominion doing their share in the work of producing an ever-increas-ing supply of primary products which will be so necessary in winning the war. I certainly do not share your opinion that the people of the United Kingdom should not rely upon that being done.
"I firmly believe that, with the cooperation of your union and of other bodies concerned, the people of Britain will not be disappointed," the Prime Minister concluded.
