Mr. and Mrs. Eric Riddiford, who were visitors to Christchurch for the races, returned to Wellington this morning by the steamer express.

Mrs. Harold Childe, Hong Kong, who is visiting Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. Cecil Preshaw, Khandallah.

Mrs. Wilfred Colbeck, Remuera. Auckland, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Vivian Riddiford, at Woburn, Lower Hutt.

Mrs. Howard Cook, Island Bay, is a visitor to Nelson for the Nelson College annual sports.

Mr. and Mrs. R. I. Reid arrived at Wellington by the inter-island steamer express this morning.

Mr. A. H. Allen, Mayor of Dunedin. and Mrs. Allen, who came up to Wellington for the Centennial Exhibition opening, are the 'guests of Mr. and Mrs. N. G. Allen, Sefton Street.

Miss Muriel Morrison, Masterton, is a visitor to, Wanganui for the A. and P. show.

Miss Peggy Robertson, Auckland, is spending two weeks in Wellington, where she is the guest of Mrs. Keith Rowllings, Karori.

Mr. and Mrs. Longstaff, Havelock North, are visiting Wellington, and are staying at the Hotel Waterloo.

Mrs. Trevor Brett, Parnell, Auckland, and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Nance Brett Patrick, Takapuna, are staying in Wellington.

Mr. and Mrs. T. Aitchinson, Petone, left today to visit Auckland.

After cleaning patent leather shoes warm a piece of flannel and polish with drops of olive oil or spirits of turpentine.

If a few drops of kerosene are added to the starch it will make the ironing easier.

A car windscreen is all the better for being cleaned with methylated spirit. It is a^good dust-resister.
