"GOOD-WILL GESTURE"

At the official opening of the Australian Pavilion this afternoon, the following message from the Prime Minister of Australia (the Rt. Hon. R. G. Menzies) was read by the Australian Trade Commissioner: —

The Government of the Commonwealth of Australia contributes its pavilion to the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition as a symbol ofgood will and friendliness. This gesture personifies our desire for' close and happy co-opera-tion in all matters of mutual interest. It is a token of our hope for the rapid and secure development of both Dominions as the standard bearers of those British ideals upon which our democracies are founded. To the organisers of the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition the Com-

monwealth Government offers congratulations oh its enterprise, and its courage in proceeding with the organisation despite the unsettled condition of the world. We trust that the Exhibition will be an unqualified success.
