Replying to the debate oh India in the House of Commons, the Secretary for India, Lord Zetland, said that the resignation of four provincial Governments and the impending resignation of a fifth meant that the British Government would be obliged to proclaim the breakdown of the Constitution as far as the provinces were concerned, and take over their administration. _ . . , He emphasised that Britain s policy in regard to India was unchanged. ■■
