MUSIC IN SCHOOLS
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—-May I through your columns be allowed to express a big "thank you!" to the educational authorities for the very wonderful concert conducted on Tuesday evening in the Town Hall? What a triumph of organisation, and what a truly inspirational evening it was! How encouraging, too, to those of us who have for years deplored the apparent inattention given in our educational system to music and' singing and the resultant lack of musical knowledge on the part of so many of our young people today. Our secondary schools of recent years have blazed a trail which it is good to see* our primary schools following, and with such unique success. May I express the hope that last evening's treat may be looked forward to as an annual event?—l am, etc.,
APPRECIATIVE
