Hollywood, the mistress of special effects, has at last given' way tff Nature, ahd in Walter Wanger's "Winter Carnival," which stars Ann Sheridan and Richard Carlson, real snow is used. in all sequences. There isn't a whitepainted cornflake, in a carload. It was discovered that the, most clever imitation, while giving the proper pictorial illusion, left much to, be desired as a skiing and sledding surface, and* sb; at tremendous cost, enough genuine ice and snow was manufactured to blanket the entire set.
