WEEDING
CRAMPTON-SMITH-^QUIRKE.
The Rev. Monsignor Connolly officiated at the, wedding recently of Catherine younger .daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Quirke, of Thorndon, and Bertram, elder-son of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Smith, of' Northland. The ceremony took place at the; Basilica, Hill Street, ; which ; was beautifully decorated-with lilies.; y ; .'
The; bride, who was; escorted by her father, wore a French model of oyster satin trimmed with: sequins on the yoke and the sleeves', -the. slimly-cut skirt flowing into a circular train. She carried a sheaf; of lilies! Her embroidered veil of silk .tulle,, mounted on a band of wax lilies and orange blossom, was held by two small attendants, Miss Rewa Smith (sister of the bridegroom) and "Miss Billie Quirke (niece of the bride). Their toe-length picture frocks of lavender organza featured full skirts and puff sleeves banded with lavender ribbon, and were tied at the waist with large bows. Their hats were. of the same material with- high-gathered brims trimmed with flowers' and tied with ribbons. They cai*ried ; tiny bouquets of lavender ■ and lemon .polyanthus.
The bridesmaids, Miss Hilda Smith (sister of the bridegroom) and Miss Edith Rofe, wore lime-green broderie Anglaise marquisette with tight-fitting bodices laced in front.with .black velvet ribbon, and featured very full skirts. Their tulle veils were mounted on chrysanthemums; arid their bouquets were of pink and mauve double stock and tulips.
The best man and groomsman were Messrs. Michael and: William Quirke, brothers of the bride. y ;s
Over 150 guests were received at the Marist Club by the bride's mother, Mrs. J. Quirke, who wore a smart ensemble of navy blue cloque, a, spray of golden speraxis and "Japanese lanterns," a hat of plum-coloured Balkan straw trimmed with coloured anemones, and a matching veil. She was assisted by Mrs. S. A. Smith, the bridegroom's mother, who wore an ankle-length frock of midnight blue lame, and a straw hat to match, trimmed with a cyclamen veil. Her bouquet was of freesias and grape hyacinths. Vocal items were given by Miss Eva Higgins, arid the accompanists were Mrs. F. Mills, of Wanganui, and Mr. T. Hindle.
The bride's travelling outfit was a black pleated frock under a marmot fur coat, with a black and white straw hat and veil to match.
