MANAWATU SHOW
OPENING TOMORROW
Predominantly the best show. in the North Island is that conducted by the Manawatu A. and P. Association, which is opening its three days Centennial Spring Show at Palmerston North tomorrow. On this, occasion two special attractions have been engaged—the St. Moritz Skaters, who will appear for two evenings as a free: show in the entertainment hall, and' the World's Car Crash Kings, successors to the famous "Hell Drivers," for the afternoon and evening of the Carnival Day, Saturday. Both these attractions are in the highest class, and when they are offered in conjunction with the wide variety that is to be found at a spring show, there is a magnificent collection which should be responsible for some record attendances. The St. Moritz Skaters are Continental stars who come with a high reputation for skill1 and daring. Skating has gained a firm place in public favour, and the evolutions which they accomplish, in^ a carefree style will prove of the, utmost interest. '....'" ;'■■ The rtHell Drivers'* are/orie of the most thrilling and''novel" demonstrations ever staged at any show, and' with this' in mind the association has arranged for the appearance of ,-a world-famous car-crash squad, composed of men who earn their living by staging death-cheating stunts for the film producers of Hollywood. Many have read of the hair-raising risks run by these men, but everyone has yet to see them turn on a display ,of some j of the most daring acts in their repertoire. One of the riiost successful items at the last spring show was tho Young Farmers' shearing contest, and' its repetition will be welcome. There is, to be the best dog show in the Do-' minion, a magnificent grand parade on' the oval, and halls crammed •with displays of both industrial and agriculr tural types. On .the oval there are to be; trotting events and motor-cycle chariot races, both of which have become well established as favourites. In addition^ there will be cycle'races on the speedy track left by the removal of the cinders from the edge of the oval. Hurit- ' ing events, recognised asb an integral part of any show,', will;be, staged, and the Palmerston Noirth V.M.C.A.; is to put on an exhibition of gymnastic work by an experienced troupe. THE GRAND PARADE. The, ( Grand Parade' will be held '■ at 3 p.m., to enable' townspeople and others who are unable to visit "the show; till the afternoon to see this fine display of cattle, >' horses, vehicular exhibits, etc. The parade, which will be marshalled under the direction of Mr. L.
