France lost six merchantmen, of a total tonnage of 41,000, during the first two months of the war, and captured four German vessels, one of which, namely, the Halle, was sunk by its crew. France is employing the remainder, whose tonnage was 19,000. The French losses are a 1 per cent, reduction of the total tonnage.
