ANITA FOE FOR OAKS

Anita Foe, whose win in the final event at the Wellington Meeting was the sensation of the fixture, was left in the New Zealand Oaks on the recommendation of her trainer, J. J. Waller, who advised her owner, Mrs. L. M. Lamb, that he thought the filly would stay well. Following that evidence of stamina displayed at Trentham she is now to go down to Riccarton, and she will be ridden in the classic by G. R. Tattersall, who claimed the mount ahead of W. Jenkins. Anita Foe is a typical daughter of the Hurry On sure Defoe, with plenty of size and balanced conformation. She is a brown filly out of the Acrostic (son of Multiform) mare Pollyanna, a half-sister to that good steeplechaser Sturdee and descending from the same family as Tortulla (New Zealand Cup), Rosefeldt (New Zealand Cup), Old Surrey, Martulla, Baroscope, and Cater-, pillar, as -\vell as Advance,. Silvermine, and others. Bred by Mr. A. E. Preston, sh,e -was withdrawn from the bidding at' the yearling sales at 55 guineas, arid she was disposed of privately the next week to Mr. G. Lamb, of Wellington, who has leased her to his wife for racing. Mr. Lamb has already had more than one offer for her, but he has decided to keep her.
