WESTPO.RT,. October 2#.

The Minister of Public Works (the Hon. R. Seniple) and the Minister of Labour (the Hon. P. C. Webb) have been making an extensive tour of the Buller district, including a survey of land clearing and draining work in the Buller. Valley. They paid a visit to Dennistoh and Burnett's Face yesterday and attended a farmers' meeting last night, when the question of the better use of machinery was discussed, particularly the financial side, so^' far as it affected farmers who wanted their land cleared, drained, and cultivated.

Today they are making a tour of Karamea and tomorrow they will inspect Pahiki lands under treatment and cultivation. In the afternoon they will attend the Technical High School pports.

■ Buller farmers are very appreciative of the work done in bringing land hitherto almost useless into a state of production.
