BATHING BEAUTY CONTEST.
The Timaru Caroline Bay Association is offering six prizes ranging from £20 to £2 10s this Christmas for competition in a bathing beauly contest at their annual ' each carnival between Christmas and New Year. Entries close on November 20 Avith the secretary of the Caroline Bay Association, Timaru.
William .Mark Molloy, aged 52, a labourer, was fined £2, in default fourteen days' imprisonment, -by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today for using obscene language, and he was convicted and discharged for drunkenness and procuring . liquor while prohibited. He said that Avhen he joined the army he was told, that the prohibition order was "absolutely squashed," as a soldier in the King's uniform could not be prohibited. The police said he had since been discharge ed from the army.
