"The superintendent (Mr. A. J. Mo» Eldowney), through his reports, once again emphasises the fact that the* whole community views with great alarm the rapid decrease in Christian home life," says the annual report' of the Christchurch Presbyterian Social Service Association. "Many of the cases that come before the admissions committee give evidence of the distress that frequently attends, married life that is based only on selfish or material foundations. In his personal interviews, the superintendent has abundant evidence of the fact that leisure is not used for recreative purposes but in pursuit of those things tha+ mar character and bring sorrow into home life.
