BUILDING PERMITS

NEW ZEALAND FIGURES

Permits issued for the erection of new buildings and alterations to buildings throughout the Dominion during August last involved a total ture of £900,669, as compared with £912,621 in August, 1938, states the monthly Abstract of Statistics.

The totals for the four chief centres were as follows:—Auckland, £290,882; Wellington, £231,137; Christchurch, £100,487; Dunedin, £56,377.
