DETENTION OF U.S. MARINE

(Received October 13, 10.30 a.m.) | TIENTSIN, October 12. Two United States marines who were guarding*a freight car wounded two Japanese railway police in an altercatiftn. The American naval authorities fear there may be serious repercussions. Japanese detained one of the marines. It is said that one Japanese was wounded in the thigh when he drew his sword and that the other was struck on the head with a revolver* butt. The Marine Board of Inquiry later announced that the marine detained by the Japanese has been released. The board added that the marine-had "quite, an interesting experience, but; :was not ill-treated."
