Mrs. Donald Dobson, Wellington, arrived in Christchurch on Wednesday to visit Mrs. V. Holm Turnbull. Fendalton. Mrs. Herbert Acton-Adams, of Tipapa, North Canterbury, is staying with her daughter, Mrs. Norman Loisel, in Gisborne. Miss Irma O'Connor, Auckland, who came down to Wellington specially to attend the Centennial dinner on Thursday evening, is the guest of Mrs. C. E. Carter, Oriental Bay. She will leave tomorrow on her return to Auckland, Dr. and Mrs. Edgar Reay. Durham Street, who have been for a motor tour in the North Island, returned home yesterday. Mrs. W. Thompson and Miss Jean Thompson, Palrnerston North, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson, Wellington. Miss Alison Buchanan, Kelburn Parade, will leave shortly for Australia, where her marriage to Mr. Allen Hall, of Melbourne, will take place. Miss B. M. M. French, formerly of England, has left Auckland to take up a position on the staff of Marsden School, Wellington. Miss N. Carrick, Masterton, is staying at Otaki. The Rev. Dr. J. E. Holloway,' with his daughter, Mrs. Lan Borrie, Dunedin, arrived at Christchurch yesterday for the marriage of his daughter to Dr.: Cleveland Sheppard, which will take place today. Mrs. Holloway, who has been visiting England, is on her way to New Zealand, Miss W. T. Barker has returned to the staff of Nga Tawa College after a holiday in England, where she took a seven weeks' refresher course at the Chelsea College of Physical Education. Mrs. Stevenson, Napier, is a visitor to Wellington, and is staying at the. Empire Hotel. Mrs. R. Leece, Mrs. A. Hunter (Hawera), and Mrs. F. Fear (Hamilton) are staying at the Grand Hotel. Mrs. G. S. Butler (Auckland) and Mrs. C. H. Carlton (England) are staying at the Hotel St. George.
