Red Cross "Younger Set." Funds for the Red Cross "Younger Set's" annual ball, which, will be held on October 6, were augmented last night by proceeds from the party given by Mrs. H. Schneideman at 'her home in Goldie's Brae. Table tennis1 as well as less strenuous games and cards was played, Mrs. Schneideman providing a refreshing savoury supper at the conclusion of the evening. Her black hostess gown was given an unusual finish by its diamante-trimmed: sleeves. The committee which helped her entertain the guests comprised Misses Peggy Hyams, Lorna Kesseli; Lesley Martindale, and Betty Rendle, and Messrs. Wilfred Mehaney and Robert Carney. V.A.D.S' Hospital Work. A meeting was held recently of the Wellington South Nursing Division of. the St. John Ambulance Brigade at the brigade rooms, Vivian Street. The division welcomed a number of probationary members, and also admitted as full members Miss Saunderson from Auckland, Miss Rose from Hokitika, and Miss Walker from Gisborne. The question of new uniforms was discussed. Miss McKenzie, Mrs. Smith, and Mrs. Moore were selected as the next squad to report for V.A.D. training at the hospital. Misses McCarthy and Carroll described some of the work they had been doing in hospital training for V.A. work overseas. An invitation was accepted from Sister Collins for any ambulance sisters who wished to accompany her on her visits and learn some of the practical work done in that capacity. Drill practice and roller bandaging were carried out under the superivsion of Miss Paul, lady superintendent. The division joined in congratulating Miss McKenzie, Miss Carroll, and Miss Young on receiving their three-year service chevron, and Miss McComshie and Miss Salisbury on attaining their six-year service chevron.
