The price of gold advanced to 168s per oz fine on September 5 and has been held at that point. This price was the highest reached at any time in the London market. The price on August 24 was 148s sd; August 25. 150s 6d; August 26. 1555; August 28, 161s; August 29, 1575; August 30. 158s 6d; and August 31, 1595. During the crisis in September. 1938. the price reached 147s (September 28). but it went to 150s 5d on January 9, 1939.
