PROPOSALS WELL RECEIVED
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) HASTINGS, This Day. Two hundred transport operators from all parts of Hawke's Bay met at Hastings last night to learn the terms 'of the proposed Government control [of the industry. The proposals were well received, and a resolution stated that "this meeting of combined motor transport operators, representative of the Hawke's Bay district, places on record its appreciation of the confidence reposed in the industry by the Minister of Transport, and . appreciates the opportunity offered to the industry to effect of its own accord a degree of economy necessary in the existing national emergency." It was emphasised that the Government had no wish to dictate to the industry but wished to act in the fullest possible consultation and co-opera-tion with it.
