VETERAN ORGANIST

FAREWELLED BY CHOIR

At the invitation of the vicar and Mrs. Robertshawe, the members of St. Mark's Choir recently assembled to farewell their organist and choirmaster, Mr. Laurence Watkins, who is retiring after over forty-three years' service. Musical items helped to make the evening pass all too quickly, and a delicious supper was afterwards served by Mrs. Robertshawe. Occasion was taken to present Mr. and Mrs. Watkins with a small token' of the esteem in which they have always been held. In making the presentation on behalf of the choir, Mr. P. Bray briefly eulogised the services of Mr. Watkins, who, in reply, spoke feelingly of his long association with St. Mark's Choir. Cheers for Mr. and Mrs. Watkins and the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" brought a very pleasant evening to a close.
