The anticyclone to tht« north of New Zealand has" moved further to the east and a deep depression moving across the South Tasman Sea has begun to affecc the weather in the South Island. Yesterday, the weather was fine over the central portion of the Dominion but '•loudy to overcast in the north and south. Yhere were a few isolated showers in western districts yesterday, but rain was falling in Westland this morning and skies were overcast in most districts. The wind was from the north-west, mainly light to moderate in force but fresh in the far south and about ■Cook Strait. This morning, the winds were more northerly. Temperatures have been mild.
