BIGAMY ADMITTED
Albert Henry Doyle admitted a charge of bigamy after evidence against him had been heard in the Magistrate's Court yesterday by Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., and he was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. It was disclosed in evidence that the accused was married in July, 1910, there being three children of the marriage. His wife left him in 1925, and was granted a separation order in the following year. In December, 1927, the accused went through a form of marriage with another woman at the Registrar's Office, Wellington. Detective-Sergeant W- R- Murray stated that the woman with whom the accused had gone through the form of marriage had stated that he had always treated her well, and they had been happy together. The present disclosure had come as a great shock to her.
