Hawke's Bay.;—Up to last night applications for enlistment in Napier totalled 207, and in Hastings 237.

i Auckland.—rA further 750 men for the special military force were medically examined at four centres in the northern military district yesterday, with the result that 493 were classified as fit, -178■' temporarily unfit, and 79 per manentiy unfit. The percentage1 of .fit men was 35.7. Up to last night 1460 men in the district had been passed for the force, out of 2317 examined. •

Masterton.—Yesterday's, enrolments in the special military force brought the total to 206 for Masterton. As the rejections are mainly because of dental deficiencies, Masterton dentists are being rushed by volunteers. Recruits are receiving preference over ordinary patients, and the demand for attention has caused considerable congestion in Wairarapa dental rooms.

Christchurch.—Fifty registrations yesterday brought the total enlistments in Christchurch to 994.

Palmerston North.—An analysis of the medical examination of recruits from Palmerston North and surrounding districts reveals a big percentage of temporarily unfit men. no fewer than 101 out of 307 who have been before doctor and dentist being in that category. The main cause is defective teeth. Only 34 have been turned down as totally unfit. The number passed as fit is 172 out of the 307.
