v The Derby candidate Beau'Vite distinguished himself by registering the fastest time at Randwick yesterday for a mile and 100 yards in lmin 43sec. He badly beat Paddy the Rip and shook off Pearl of Asia.
The Epsom candidate Micawber did a creditable six furlongs at Victoria Park in lmin 19|sec. Olympus .is training on well and did a sound five furlongs in lmin 4Jsec.
Defaulter trotted and cantered round the centre at Randwick, and a decision in regard to his future will be given in a day or two. Royal Chief worked quietly on the tan track.
At the Newcastle Meeting which opened yesterday, the chief event, the Cameron Handicap, seven furlongs* was won by the Epsom candidate Red Thespian from Bradford and Huntsman. Bradford's displaywwass s disappointing to her Epsom admirers.
