TIMARU LIME PROFITS

The Timaru Lime Co., Ltd., earned net profit of £709 in the year ended August 31, 1939, compared with £1269 in the previous period. Balance available is £1060 this year, against £1197 last year. Dividend is unaltered at 5 per cent., and absorbs £650, leaving £410 to carry forward against £547 brought in. The directors report that despite an accident in the quarry which caused complete disorganisation of the company's operations in the early part of the busy season, the year ended satisfactorily. The company's taxes since the inception of the social security demands are more than" double the amount which would have been required if taxation had remained on the same basis as a year ago.
